NHL Playoffs, NBA Restart Are What To Bet On This Weekend At WV Sportsbooks

Posted on July 31, 2020

Two of the four most popular North American sports leagues are back in action this weekend. The NBA restart and NHL playoffs join other domestic events available for wagering at West Virginia online sportsbooks.

BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel all have special promotions for this weekend. For WV sports betting customers, choosing between them is an enviable “problem” to have.

Promos for the NBA restart at WV sportsbooks

BetMGM tips off the NBA restart with two odds boosts and three special parlays for West Virginians. The sportsbook is offering +240 on LeBron James to score 30 points or more and the Los Angeles Lakers to beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night.

The book offers even longer odds of +290 on Zion Williamson scoring 25 points or more amidst a New Orleans Pelicans win over the Utah Jazz on Thursday as well. Thursday’s games also begin the special parlays at BetMGM.

Taking the Lakers and Utah both to win offers odds of +230. If you’re looking for similar action on Friday’s and Saturday’s games, BetMGM has these parlays:

  • Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and Portland Trail Blazers all to win – +225
  • Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, and San Antonio Spurs all to win – +550

DraftKings delves out delightful opportunities

DraftKings Sportsbook hits the hardcourt with an impressive array of offers as well. This includes two forms of “pregame protection,” a free bet, and a customizable profit boost.

To get the free bet, place a wager of at least $25 on any team to win the NBA Finals this year. DraftKings will reward you with a free bet to use on any game this weekend.

You can also “Choose Your Boost” on any of this weekend’s NBA games. Simply place a $20 wager on either side of the moneyline of any game and DraftKings will pay you $100 if you win.

Pregame protections include wagers on which player will score the first basket and how many points one team will score in a game of your choice. Both offer a refund of your wager in the event of lost bets.

In the former case, DraftKings will refund your bet if the team that the player you picked plays for still wins the game. In the latter circumstance, if the team you stake on a moneyline loses but scores 110 points or more, DraftKings will refund your wager.

FanDuel follows with fetching fortuity

FanDuel Sportsbook is also offering site credit in exchange for a wager on its NBA Finals futures. On that sportsbook, however, you get $10 in credit for a wager of at least $50.

That theme stays consistent with an offer on Saturday night’s Indiana Pacers vs. Philadelphia 76ers game. Place a pre-game wager of at least $50 on either side of the moneyline. If you win, FanDuel will give you $3 in site credit for every point in the winning margin.

The exact same promo is also available for Thursday’s Clippers-Lakers game. FanDuel is also once again offering its popular “Spread the Love” special on the Lakers’ spread for Thursday.

For every 2,500 wagers placed on the special market, FanDuel will move the point spread in the Lakers’ favor by a point. As of 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, the spread was at +11.

Finally, FanDuel is offering to refund your pre-game, moneyline wager on any of this weekend’s games you choose. Just bet $50 or less and if the team you staked is leading after three quarters, FanDuel will return your wager if that team blows it in the fourth quarter or overtime.

The NBA doesn’t comprise the whole of the opportunities to win this weekend, however. The 2019-20 NHL playoffs offer chances to net some cash as well.

NHL promos at WV sportsbooks

BetMGM has another boosted parlay for Saturday, featuring the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Calgary Flames. If you take that bet and both teams cooperate, you’ll enjoy a +190 payout.

DraftKings is offering a $5 site credit for each goal that a team you stake scores during its upcoming series. Your wager must be of at least $50 and the sportsbook will give you the credit for each goal regardless of whether the team wins the best-of-five series.

FanDuel is offering pretty much the exact same deal on Game 1 of the Boston Bruins vs. Philadelphia Flyers series, set for Sunday, Aug. 2. Bet at least $50 on either side of the moneyline and FanDuel will give you $5 in site credit for each goal that team scores during the game.

The NBA restart and NHL playoff start are a welcome addition to the menu of MLB, NASCAR, PGA, and WNBA markets also available this weekend. Clever bettors could come out of this weekend with fatter bank accounts.
