DraftKings West Virginia Online Sportsbook Review

DraftKings is well-known to sports bettors in the United States due to its domination of the one-day fantasy sports market. Now, the company seeks to leverage its popularity and reputation with forays into the newly legalized sports betting market.

The new sportsbook is expected to follow its predecessor in New Jersey by offering a first bet match up to $200 to new players.

Players who are awarded free bets will probably need to use them within 30 days of placing their first bet.

The wager amount will most likely not be included in the payout if the wager wins. We also expect it to be non-refundable, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash.

Betting markets

If the new West Virginia sportsbook follows the lead of the one that’s already up and running in New Jersey, players can expect to find all of the sports that are popular in the United States.

This means that wagering would be available on the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football and basketball, golf, tennis, soccer, motorsports, and combat sports.

Other sports are not expected to be on offer. While that is sure to disappoint some players, others may appreciate the simplified and less cluttered interface. DraftKings seems to be focused on appealing to novice sports bettors by featuring clear language, such as “Who will win?” instead of “Moneyline.”

Players are likely to find the most popular wagers on all available sports, including moneyline, spread, and totals.

Prop bets and futures wagering is also expected to be available, as is in-play wagering. Multi-bet options may be relatively limited.

Although parlays should be included, it appears unlikely that the new site will offer teasers. Teasers are a popular option for punters who wager on American football and basketball. They allow players to purchase an equal number of points on multiple events.

The new sportsbook is also expected to feature a live ticker system, which allows players to cash out their bets early. Players would receive less than the payout for an outright win, but they would also be able to lock in profits early rather than risk waiting for the final result.

Finally, players are likely to be able to place wagers with as little as a dime, which is well below the minimums offered by most existing sportsbooks.

Loyalty program

The new site is likely to follow its New Jersey counterpart’s lead in allowing players to accumulate Frequent Player Points (FPPs). It seems that the points will be awarded at a one-point-to-one-dollar ratio, and players are likely to be able to exchange them for free bets.

The site may also offer daily missions that award experience badges and loyalty points, such as granting players 100 points for placing their first bet of $3 or more.

Additional promotions and bonuses are likely to be made available through e-mails and push notifications.

Deposit and withdrawal methods

Online sports betting is new to the state of West Virginia, so it remains unclear what types of deposit and withdrawal methods will be available on the new site.

TVG has made betting on horse races available to players in the state for years, and the site may be the best guide until the new DraftKings site begins operations. If the new site follows that model, it will accept BetCash, PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, PayNearMe, and BetCash, which transfers money from bank accounts.

TVG also sells prepaid cards that players can use to make deposits, but as of now, it does not appear that the new site will offer them in the near future.

Notably, the deposit and withdrawal options on the DraftKings online sportsbook in New Jersey are limited to credit and debit cards and bank transfers, so it is possible that the options on the West Virginia site will be similarly scarce.

Customer support

The most likely model for customer support options on the new site is the one provided by its New Jersey counterpart. If that is the case, live chat support will be available from 6:00 AM to 11:59 PM Eastern.

Support will also be available via an online contact form and email at [email protected].

As of writing, it appears unlikely that the new site will offer phone support when it opens. It is expected, however, to feature an excellent Frequently Asked Questions section.

Land-based partner and launch date

The new legislation allows each of the five states casinos in the state to partner with up to three individually branded online platforms. So far, four of the five casinos have been granted licenses, and the fifth, Wheeling Island, is expected to apply for its license and have it issued within weeks, if not days.

This means that DraftKings could partner with any of the five casinos in the state. Because The Greenbrier has already announced a partnership with FanDuel, it is difficult to see DraftKings partnering with that casino – which leaves each of the four other casinos as viable potential partners.

Regardless of the casino with which DraftKings ends up partnering, they are expected to begin operations in the state in the Fall of 2018.
