William Hill West Virginia Online Sportsbook Review

William Hill is set to be among the next wave of online sportsbooks to open in West Virginia. Lawmakers approved legal WV sports betting in the wake of a 2018 US Supreme Court decision that enabled states to legalize sports betting.

William Hill is among the leaders in sports betting in Europe and is particularly dominant in Great Britain. At present, the options it offers to American players are more limited than those available to players in other parts of the world, though that may soon change.

At the time of writing, William Hill’s mobile sites in the United States offer a 10% bonus up to a maximum of $50 on new players’ initial deposits. Users need to create a new mobile account and make a minimum deposit of $50 to claim their bonus.

The deposit is only available to new players and may not be used by those with existing accounts, including ones that were created at tavern locations.

To receive the welcome bonus, players must play through their initial deposit once within 90 days. The bonus is then made available within 30 days. Only wagers available on the William Hill mobile sports app are eligible, which means that pari-mutuel betting does not count toward the bonus.

Betting markets

The new William Hill West Virginia sportsbook is expected to follow in the footsteps of the few predecessors that it has in the United States, though its sports selection will (at least initially) be less extensive than those available on the international site.

Players at the new sportsbook should be able to wager on baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, golf, tennis auto racing, boxing, cycling, MMA, rugby, and cricket. We expect betting on college sports to be available, but wagering on high school sports is prohibited.

Players should find all the standard available betting options, including spread, moneyline, and totals wagers available for all sports. In addition, William Hill typically offers dozens of markets for prop betting on each event in major sports.

For most matches, the site is also likely to feature an extensive range of in-play options. The number of pre-match prop bets and in-play markets will vary widely based on the sport and the popularity of an event.

The site is also expected to offer futures wagering on at least twelve sports, most of which include more than one league or bet type.

We also expect the new sportsbook to offer multi-bet wagering. Parlays enable players to put multiple events on a single ticket. Teasers, which allow players to purchase an equal number of points for totals and spread betting on American football and basketball, will also likely be available.

Loyalty program

The new site is expected to offer a loyalty program, which is likely to follow the model of other William Hill US sites. If that is the case, players will earn points for every dollar wagered.

On a straight bet, wagers are typically rewarded with points at a one-point-to-one-dollar ratio. For teasers, bettors earn two points for every dollar wagered. On parlay cards, players receive five points per dollar bet. One thousand points are redeemable for $1 in free bets.

Players can also earn points at a one-point-to-one-dollar ratio with pari-mutuel bets, but these points are not redeemable for free wagers.

William Hill West Virginia sportsbook is partnering with Hollywood Casino at Charlestown Races to bring online wagering to the state. Accordingly, the loyalty program offered in existing William Hill US sportsbooks may be adapted to conform to or combine with a casino rewards program.

Deposit and withdrawal methods

William Hill has yet to announce the deposit and withdrawal methods it will offer. That said, the sportsbook is likely to follow the lead of the options that are already available for TVG, a horse racing betting app that has been operating legally in the state for some time.

If that is the case, players would be able to deposit funds with Visa, Mastercard, PayNearMe, PayPal, and BetCash, which requires a driver’s license and a bank account with a routing number. TVG also accepts deposits with TVG prepaid cards, though it is not yet clear whether the new sportsbook will offer prepaid cards of its own.

Players should be able to make withdrawals through the same methods used to make a deposit.

Customer support

The William Hill West Virginia sportsbook is expected to follow the lead of WilliamHill.us and offer phone support at (855) 754-1200.

Like the US site, the state site should also feature a web form for email support. It is also expected to follow the nationwide site’s lead in providing lines at their customers’ request.

Although this is an option at some other sportsbooks, William Hill includes a “Suggest a Bet” link on its homepage, which offers a level of service and support that is rare in the industry.

The new site is not expected to provide a live chat feature.

Land-based partner

William Hill is partnering with Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races for sports betting in West Virginia. The land-based casino already offers 2,500 slot machines, 75 table games, 18 poker tables, and horse racing – so sports betting completes the picture.

The establishment brands itself as “a Vegas-style casino experience” and offers accommodations, dining, and shows for its customers.

The partnership brings together a locally established business and one of the biggest names in sports betting to provide players with a new and exciting opportunity.
