BetStars West Virginia Online Sportsbook Review

PokerStars, the older brother of BetStars, operated in the United States before the prohibition of online poker. The company continued to run a free app in the United States, which kept its name in front of American players.

Now, BetStars is set to become a leader in the online sports betting industry with a new online sportsbook for players in West Virginia.

The BetStars global site offers a promotion for new players that the West Virginia site is expected to model. If that is the case, new players will receive two $10 free bets that they can use on any sport. To qualify, users would have to place a $20 bet at 1:1 odds or greater.

Players will likely need to complete the initial wager within 90 days of signing up. Only players who sign up through BetStars would be eligible.

Free bets should be credited to the player’s account within 48 hours of placing the qualifying bet and will likely not be sable for Spin & Bet, another BetStars promotion. Players are expected to have seven days to use the free bets once they are credited.

Bettors who own other Stars accounts should be able to go to their Challenges Window to find their Sports Welcome Offer, opt into it, and place a wager.

Betting markets

At the time of writing, BetStars lists 25 sports plus esports on its existing betting platform, which is likely to be the model for the new West Virginia sportsbook.

This includes the NFL and college football, the MLB and Mexican League baseball, and multiple hockey and basketball leagues from around the world, as well as golf, tennis, and boxing/UFC.

Additional sports like rugby, horse racing, and motorsports are also likely to be available.

The site also features several multi-bet options, such as parlays, which are also known as accumulators, Canadian, Lucky Bets, Heinz, Super Heinz, and more. One drawback is that parlays appear to be limited to nine teams.

Notably absent from the site are teasers, which give players the opportunity to buy an equal number of points on multiple games in multi-bet wagers on American football and basketball.

Futures bets are likely to be readily available on the new sportsbook assuming that it follows the lead of the existing BetStars site where they are listed as “Outrights.”

One area that remains unclear for the BetStars West Virginia sportsbook is prop bets. The global BetStars site offers dozens of prop bets on soccer matches, but it has very few available on American football. No prop bets are on offer for college football games. It remains to be seen whether the new site will add such options in an effort to appeal to American players.

Loyalty program

The new sportsbook is not expected to offer a conventional loyalty program. The closest thing that they are likely to have to one is a promotion known as BetStars Challenges. These challenges are often geared toward particular events, such as games or tournaments.

Players may need to place two winning in-play bets on a match, six winning bets during a specific tennis tournament, or attain a different goal. They should then opt into these challenges at no fee.

We expect prizes to include bonuses, cash, and tickets.

Deposit and withdrawal methods

At the time of writing, it remains unclear what deposit and withdrawal options will be available on the new BetStars West Virginia sportsbook.

TVG has offered WV residents the opportunity to bet on horse races for years, and their model is the most likely one for sportsbooks in the state to follow.

If that is the case, players will be able to use Mastercard, Visa, BetCash, PayPal, and PayNearMe to fund their accounts. BetCash enables users to make deposits via their bank accounts. TVG also sells prepaid cards, but the new site has not yet announced plans to offer this option.

Players will likely be able to withdraw funds through the same methods they used to deposit funds, although the sportsbook may provide additional options.

Customer support

If the new site follows the lead of the existing BetStars global site, players can expect to have access to support via an online Contact Support Form available not only to existing players but also to those who have not yet registered.

The global site also offers support via live chat for some of its players. They are currently working on expanding this option to make it available for all their members.

The site does not feature a number for phone support.

Land-based partner & launch date

Online sportsbooks must partner with an existing West Virginia land-based casino to begin operating in the state.

There are five casinos in WV, four of which have already paid the licensing fee and been approved to enter into partnerships with online sportsbooks. The fifth is expected to apply for a license and be approved within weeks, if not days.

Two of the casinos have already entered into partnerships with existing online sportsbook operators. That leaves Mardi Gras Casino & Resort, Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort, and Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack as potential partners.

The competition for players in the new market is sure to be fierce, so BetStars is expected to move as quickly as possible to solidify a partnership and get started.
