WV Online Sportsbooks Include Lots Of NFL And College Football Betting This Weekend

Posted on October 8, 2020

This weekend is filled with plenty of great betting options at West Virginia sportsbooks.

With college football and NFL betting in full swing, sportsbooks are seeing more action than ever. This trend should continue this weekend with another full slate of conference games in college and Week 5 in the NFL.

Sportsbooks have come a long way since the COVID-19 shutdown went into effect in March. Even in July, sports betting figures weren’t that close to where they were prior to the stoppage.

That has completely changed of late thanks to a few developments.

There’s no question that the return of football is crucial. Both the NFL and college football betting bring in lots of wagers every week.

It also helps that the WVU Mountaineers are off to a quality start and are playing well.

Besides these great markets, the fact that online sports betting apps have expanded in the Mountain State is even more important. There are now five online sportsbooks available to residents.

With more online platforms and football on the board, sportsbooks accepted over $19 million for the week of Sept. 26.

Online sportsbooks were responsible for more than $15 million of the total, or about 81%.

The bets should keep flowing this weekend, even without the Mountaineers. They have another bye week before taking on Kansas on Oct. 17.

College football features several other great games, including Texas vs. Oklahoma and Georgia hosting Tennessee. Then, No. 1 Clemson and No. 7 Miami battle for the lead in the ACC in an intriguing night matchup.

Let’s take a look at the betting lines for these college games and break down the best the NFL has to offer on Sunday.

College football at WV sportsbooks

Although WVU won’t be taking the field on Saturday, bettors in WV can find lots of other exciting games to wager on.

In the early slate, a lot of football fans will have their eyes on the Red River Showdown between Oklahoma and Texas. This is usually one of the best matchups in the Big 12 Conference every season.

Despite the fact that both teams are coming off of a loss last week, this game has massive implications for which team will win the conference. Oklahoma and Texas are the two favorites according to WV sportsbooks.

This year’s battle should be another close one, as DraftKings Sportsbook currently lists OU as slight favorites. The Sooners are laying -2.5 points with a moneyline of -132, while Texas is receiving the 2.5 points with a moneyline of +108.

Casual football fans should consider tuning into this one. The online sportsbook projects it to be a very high-scoring affair, with the game’s total set at 72 points.

In the SEC, Georgia highlights the biggest game of the week for the second consecutive time. The third-ranked Bulldogs play No. 14 Tennessee this weekend between the hedges.

Once again, UGA is the favorite at home. This week, it’s giving the Volunteers -12.5 points in the spread.

If you’re betting through DraftKings, you can take Georgia’s moneyline of -560, or Tennessee at +400.

This game’s total is much lower than the Big 12 game. DraftKings lists it at just 43 points right now.

In what might be the top game of the day, No. 1 Clemson is a two-touchdown favorite over No. 7 Miami. Even though the Hurricanes are big underdogs, they have more than enough confidence coming into this week.

Miami is 3-0 and has defeated both Louisville and Florida State with ease.

If you think the Hurricanes have a chance, you can take them getting +14 or their moneyline of +400. Clemson supporters can bet on the Tigers at -14 points, or their moneyline odds at -560.

Betting on the NFL

After a full day of college football wagering, there’s another appetizing lineup of games in the NFL on Sunday.

As the professionals enter Week 5, teams begin their regularly scheduled bye weeks. Both the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are off this weekend.

That leaves bettors with 15 games still, starting on Thursday night.

While there have been a few slower games the last few weeks, Week 5 starts out with a great matchup.

The Tampa Bay Bucs and quarterback Tom Brady travel to Chicago to play the Bears. They each started the new season winning three of their first four contests.

Brady will face off against a familiar foe in quarterback Nick Foles. The journeyman was the Philadelphia Eagles’ signal-caller in their Super Bowl victory over the Patriots a few years ago.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Bucs are laying -3.5, with a moneyline of -190. You can take the Bears receiving +3.5 or to win outright at +162.

In the battle for neighboring Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Philadelphia Eagles early Sunday afternoon.

Pittsburgh had an unforeseen bye week last Sunday due to the Tennessee Titans’ coronavirus outbreak. Other than that, the Steelers have been rolling this season and are 3-0 heading into this game.

On the other hand, the Eagles are struggling to start the year. They got their first win of the season last Sunday night against a depleted 49ers squad.

FanDuel shows Pittsburgh as the favorite at home, giving -7 points in the spread. The Steelers’ moneyline is -330, whereas Philadelphia is at +265.

The online sportsbook allows you to wager on the winning margin of the game. It currently has the following odds in place:

  • Steelers 1-6 +370
  • Steelers 7-12 +440
  • Steelers 13-18 +500
  • Eagles 1-6 +550
  • Steelers 19-24 +750
  • Eagles 7-12 +1100

Additional NFL lines

Cincinnati Bengals +12.5 (Moneyline: +530) vs. Baltimore Ravens -12.5 (Moneyline: -750)

Cleveland Browns +1.5 (Moneyline: +108) vs. Indianapolis Colts -1.5 (Moneyline: -126)

Washington Football Team +7.5 (Moneyline: +290) vs. Los Angeles Rams -7.5 (Moneyline: -360)

MLB postseason odds

Bettors who are looking for action outside of the football field still have some options, as well.

One of the most popular markets at sportsbooks is the MLB playoffs. Baseball is now in its divisional round, with eight teams remaining.

WV sportsbooks still offer updated futures odds for each league, on top of odds for every individual game.

Although this year’s postseason is much different from in the past, not much has changed on the diamond. Many of the betting favorites from the beginning of the season are still alive and contending for the title.

Right now, BetMGM Sportsbook has the following odds on which team will be crowned the champion in MLB:

  • Los Angeles Dodgers +200
  • New York Yankees +400
  • Tampa Bay Rays +450
  • Atlanta Braves +550
  • Houston Astros +550
  • San Diego Padres +1400
  • Miami Marlins +3000
  • Oakland Athletics +3500
